The Piedmont Performance Factory vision is one of artistic collaboration and community engagement. It will generate a coalition of commercial/not-for-profit partnerships to develop film capabilities and offer performance, event, and gallery space close to the center of downtown Pittsboro, North Carolina.

What to expect:

  • Film Production. The Piedmont Performance Factory space will become a home for the film company Harland’s Creek Productions. The space will house film production offices and post production facilities, building on the rich history of documentary film production in the region. Local filmmakers will be able to access the tools they need in an environment of collaboration and the pursuit of excellence.

  • Theatre. StreetSigns Center for Literature and Performance is a twenty-two year-old nonprofit performing arts company that will make its home at The Piedmont Performance Factory. StreetSigns has presented over fifty-three full productions and countless readings and workshops throughout its span.

  • Contemporary Art. The space will contain a contemporary art gallery – a local, sustainable source for international caliber art.

  • New Performance Works. The Process Series, an ongoing program of the Institute for the Arts and Humanities at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is dedicated to the development of new and significant works in the world of performing arts. This program showcases up to seven works-in-progress per year, from artists from around the country and across the street. The Piedmont Performance Factory could be a next step, allowing us to introduce full versions of these works to the community.

The Piedmont Performance Factory is committed to hosting innovative new performances and art and encouraging local and pop-up business involvement.

Pittsboro is poised to become a community hub for arts and agriculture at the heart of Chatham County. Whether you’re there to browse produce at one of several local farmer’s markets or visit the antique stores and galleries on main street or the farm-to-table restaurant Oakleaf or attend an original performance, the Piedmont Performance Factory is a place for community and collaboration.
